For those of you that are cricut lovers and are on the fence about getting the cricut or the silhouette, wait!!
Your decision may have just gotten a little harder.

The cricut has just been working on the finishing touches for the print and cut feature which will be a free upgrade when it is ready.

Here is a link to the article

  1. What I understand from the Print & Cut for the Cricut is that the print has to be done on your printer and I thought the Silhouette did both the print & cut so it seems that Cricut missed the boat on this making you have to do a separate step with printing on computer. Is that what you understand to be the case?

  2. With the silhouette and the cricut you have to print from your printer, registartion marks are placed on the printed piece that is to be cut, then you transfer the paper to the machine (cricut or silhouette), the machine reads the registration marks and then cuts it out. They both work the same way
The Cricut imagine is the only machine I know of that could print and cut and that is why I love it so much. I hope this clarifies it for you.

  3. Thanks for sharing and for the article link. This will be wonderful for Explore owners.
I have a Silhouette Portrait I was lucky enough to win. tee hee hee. I haven't tried print and cut with it yet.
I have an Expression 2 {won it too. lol}, 2 Expressions and an Original Bug {I keep at school to cut things as needed}.
My problem with the Explore is the requirement to link up my cartridges. I have yet to link any of my 250+ cartridges and do not wish to do so. Just a personal preference since they can't be unlinked.
Now if they come out with one that can be used without linking well I'll never say never. lol.
    Hugs!

  6. Hi Diana, thanks for info. I'm going to wait a little longer. I bought the ScanNcut and have been playing with it recently and think it's going to be a lot of fun. Don't really need Dies any longer when you can stamp just about anything then cut it.....we will see how it works out.
    Take care!
