SUNDAY Morning----- The INSPIRATION FOR THE WINTER WHITE CARD
Remember the other day I made this winter white card and I said tomorrow I will tell you what inspired me to make it. So it is a couple of days later, sorry.
While I was out of town, I went by an area where I use to rent an ice skating rink. It reminded me of White Snow and Winter. Because it does not snow in the area I live, ice skating was more of a novelty as opposed too where I grew up. When I got home I pulled out my ice skates, they still looked fairly good, but as you can see they are not white they are blue suede. Unfortunately, they have not been used for awhile and the shoelaces do not match, but the blades are pretty sharp. They still bring back winter white memories, ice skating with friends and sipping hot chocolate to warm up before heading home. Hope you enjoyed my trip down memory lane.
Comments and memories shared are welcomed.
I used to spend every weekend Ice Skating when I was younger and my kids are always amazed I can still skate!!!I love your card...memories!!!!!

When I was a kid we would go to a pond that had ice skating (and it's still there now- yes, I still live about 10 minutes from where I grew up). Hot chocolate was always an after skating treat! Thanks for the story- your card is so pretty! :)Amy
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card Diana!!
ReplyDeleteNice, I can still remember the last time I ice skate I fell on my bum and chipped my front tooth but I still had fun :}:}
ReplyDeleteLike the story & seeing your ice skates. I do not own a pair of ice skates. Learned to ice skate when hubby & I moved to Central TX. We both took lessons thru Parks & Recreation (prices for lessons were less this way) and the rink was inside a mall. After lessons you were allowed to free skate. I always wore the rental skates which was included in the class price. Up until a few yrs ago I did not own a pair of cowboy boots for horseback riding but hubby bought me some before we went on vacation at a Dude Ranch in CO and got a lot of use out of them horseback riding every day.

Also wanted to mention that your blue suede ice skates made me think of Elvis Presley's Blue Suede Shoes song. Elvis would have been 77 today 1/8/12.

Love your beautiful card... We had a park down the street when our kids were little and every New Years Eve at Midnight we would pack up the sleds, skates and hot cocoa in the thermos and of course the Boom Box and go skating and sledding VERY late or EARLY depending on how you think of it! Thanks for the memory!

What gorgeous ice skates!! My dad used to build a small rink out of lumber and tarp for my sister and I to ice skate when we were younger! We had so much fun :) I don't like the cold now but I am dying to dig out my skates and hit the local rink :)
