I had quite a day the other day I was in a hurry, you know the feeling you are running a bit late so your a little more eager to get where you are going. I end up behind a garbage truck and there is a double yellow line, so I can't pass, I am definitely going to be behind this truck for a while. Each time the truck stops to lift another garbage can, to slowly empty its contents into the back, time is now in slow motion. The lifting arm comes down even slower than when it went up. I'm thinking why?? why behind a garbage truck. This goes on for a good slow mile. Tired of looking at the back of the truck I look to my left and I see the most beautiful reds, oranges and yellows in varying degrees of hues. I look in awe and I gasp. If I hadn't been slowed down by this garbage truck I may have missed the splendor of these trees. What a wonderful reminder that I was to stop and behold the beauty and be thankful for what I have. Today I am thankful for my sight
Ps. I ended up behind two more garbage trucks, one right after the other until I reached my destination. Go figure. My destination (although not final one) was an aromatic pastry shop-- YUM-- some things are just worth waiting for
What do you think the moral of this story would be?
When you want your pastry you have to leave 10 minutes earlier? LOL
ReplyDeleteI have had many many days like that but they never end up at a pastry shop... and you are right we have to stop and take in all the beauty that surrounds us everyday.
That the ole saying, "stop and smell the roses", can also mean seeing the colors of trees in fall, watching a sunset, or taking in the smell of an awesome bakery...how's that for a moral! lol
ReplyDeleteYes, it is nice to be able to slow down. We get in such a hurry with jobs, life and the day to day that we forget to take the time to view the important things.
ReplyDeletePeople are in such a hurry then wonder where the time went. Autumn colors are a fav of mine. Here in Central TX we finally have some Autumn color. Thanks for giveaway chance. Happy Thanksgiving!

ReplyDeleteWhat an inspirational story! Moral of the story? I was going to say "stop and smell the roses", but Dawn already said that. How about "live for today; this ain't no dress rehearsal". TFS!--Pat N.
